Abstract

This article explores various methods and strategies to develop pragmatic competence among students in foreign language classes. Pragmatic competence refers to the ability to use language appropriately in different contexts, considering social norms, cultural practices, and communicative intentions. The paper examines how language instructors can incorporate teaching methods that foster pragmatic skills, focusing on communication strategies, cross-cultural awareness, and contextual language use. It also evaluates the role of authentic materials, technology, and interactive activities in enhancing students' pragmatic competence. The findings suggest that a comprehensive, context-driven approach can significantly improve students' effectiveness in real-world communication.
