THE ANIMATED ADVANTAGE: A META-ANALYSIS OF PUPPET EFFECTIVENESS IN TEACHING ENGLISH TO CHILDREN

The growing demand for English language proficiency in children necessitates innovative pedagogical approaches. This meta-analysis synthesizes existing research to examine the effectiveness of using puppets as a teaching tool in enhancing English language acquisition among children. Analyzing a range of studies incorporating various methodologies and contexts, this review explores the impact of puppets on vocabulary acquisition, pronunciation improvement, grammar comprehension, and communicative competence. Findings suggest that puppets can be a valuable tool, particularly for young learners, by fostering engagement, reducing anxiety, and providing a relatable context for language practice. However, the effectiveness is contingent upon pedagogical design and integration with other teaching strategies. This meta-analysis concludes by highlighting the potential of puppets in English language education and offering recommendations for future research and practical application.
