Abstract

This article examines the poetics of modernity in the literary and aesthetic thought of Madame de Staël. It shows that, while remaining committed to classical norms, Madame de Staël also emphasizes the need for literature to adapt to new historical experience, especially the intellectual and emotional climate of the post-Revolutionary era. The article further explores the role of Christianity, inner reflection, melancholy, passion, and philosophical analysis in the formation of modern literature.
