Abstract

This article examines the major challenges encountered in the process of translating between English and Uzbek languages. Translation is viewed not only as a linguistic activity but also as a cultural and cognitive process that requires deep understanding of both source and target languages. The paper focuses on key problem areas such as lexical ambiguity, grammatical differences, cultural mismatches, and stylistic adaptation. Special attention is given to the role of context in determining meaning, particularly in cases of polysemy and idiomatic expression
