Abstract

This article examines corrosion in railway bridges and its impact on strength and service life. Corrosion reduces structural cross-section, lowers load capacity, and increases failure risk. Types, causes, and assessment methods are discussed. Protection measures, such as coatings, improved concrete, cathodic protection, and drainage, help extend service life and ensure safety.
