Abstract

This article investigates the microstructure of cast irons using a metallographic microscope. Various types including white, gray, malleable, and modified cast irons were analyzed. The analysis revealed differences in graphite shape and the structure of the metal matrix. In gray iron, graphite appears in flake form; in malleable iron — as nodular particles. These results are significant for enhancing mechanical properties and selecting suitable applications for cast iron materials.
