Abstract

This study presents a comparative analysis of pragmatic strategies employed in digital discourse in English and Uzbek languages. In the era of rapid digital communication, language users increasingly rely on pragmatic tools to convey intentions, maintain politeness, and achieve communicative goals in online environments. The research focuses on identifying similarities and differences in the use of speech acts, politeness strategies, implicature, and contextual adaptation across the two languages. The methodology is based on qualitative and comparative discourse analysis of authentic digital texts, including social media interactions, online comments, and messaging platforms. The findings reveal that while both English and Uzbek speakers utilize pragmatic strategies to ensure effective communication, cultural norms significantly influence their choice and frequency. English digital discourse tends to favor directness and brevity, whereas Uzbek discourse often reflects indirectness, respect-oriented expressions, and culturally embedded politeness forms.

Furthermore, the study highlights the role of socio-cultural context in shaping pragmatic behavior and demonstrates how digital environments modify traditional communication patterns. The results contribute to the broader understanding of cross-linguistic pragmatics and provide practical implications for intercultural communication and language teaching in digital settings.
