Abstract

Human anatomy is traditionally considered the cornerstone of medical education: knowledge of the topography of organs, systems and their interrelationships is the basic competence of every doctor. Over the past decades, the ways of teaching anatomy have undergone significant changes: from classical anatomical dissections, mockups and atlases to digital models, virtual and augmented reality (VR/AR), «virtual tables» and tools using artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities.

The purpose of this article is to analyze whether modern developments and strategies in teaching the subject of anatomy are really capable of revolutionizing medical education, assess the advantages and risks of their implementation, and identify the difficulties for students and teachers.
