THE IMPACT OF DIGITAL TECHNOLOGIES ON YOUTH MENTAL HEALTH: POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE DIMENSIONS

The rapid development of digital technologies has significantly transformed the daily lives of young people, influencing not only their social interactions and educational activities but also their mental health. This article examines the impact of digital technologies on youth mental well-being by analyzing both positive and negative aspects. On the one hand, digital platforms provide opportunities for social connectivity, access to mental health resources, online counseling, educational support, and self-expression, which can enhance psychological resilience and emotional awareness among young people. On the other hand, excessive use of digital devices, social media addiction, cyberbullying, information overload, and reduced face-to-face communication may contribute to anxiety, depression, stress, sleep disorders, and low self-esteem. The article emphasizes the importance of balanced and responsible use of digital technologies and highlights the role of families, educational institutions, and policymakers in promoting digital literacy and mental health awareness among youth. The findings suggest that while digital technologies can serve as effective tools for supporting mental health, their uncontrolled use poses serious psychological risks that require systematic preventive strategies.
