Abstract

The Balinese society has a long-standing tradition of oral literature, which includes myths, legends, folktales, and epics. These oral traditions  are rich in character values that have  shaped the Balineseway of life and culture. However, with the emergence of radicalism and extremism in recent years,  there  is  a  growing  concern  that  these  character  values  are  being  eroded.  In  response,  efforts have been made to revitalize the oral literature tradition of Balinese society as a means of promoting character  values  and  countering  radicalism.  This  article  will  examine  the  role  of  oral  literature  in promoting character values and its potential as a deradicalism effort in Balinese society
