Abstract

This article presents a comprehensive examination of the paradigmatic structures and syntagmatic organization of diplomatic discourse in English and Uzbek from a linguopragmatic perspective. Diplomatic discourse constitutes an institutionalized communicative system that maintains international relations through language choices ensuring neutrality formality and communicative safety. The study emphasizes that paradigmatic selection determines the semantic and pragmatic potential of lexical units in diplomatic communication whereas syntagmatic organization reinforces textual coherence protocol alignment and illocutionary precision. A comparative approach has been applied to identify structural and functional features characteristic of English and Uzbek diplomatic discourse. The findings demonstrate that both languages rely on conventionalized paradigmatic and syntagmatic mechanisms although their realisation reflects distinct cultural communicative norms influencing the degree of explicitness politeness and strategic mitigation. The research contributes to diplomatic linguistics by offering a theoretical and practical framework for analyzing diplomatic communication and enhancing cross cultural diplomatic competence.
