TOPOGRAPHICAL ANATOMY OF CRANIAL NERVES AND THEIR CLINICAL CORRELATIONS

Abstract

This article presents a detailed study of the topographical anatomy of the cranial nerves and their clinical significance in neurological practice. The cranial nerves constitute twelve paired structures emerging from the brainstem and serving both somatic and visceral functions. Their pathways through the cranial fossae, foramina, and target organs determine many specific neurological syndromes. Anatomical dissection and radiological imaging of cranial nerves provide essential data for accurate diagnosis, surgical planning, and localization of lesions in neuroanatomy. The study emphasizes the importance of understanding spatial relationships of cranial nerves with adjacent vascular and skeletal structures, as well as their clinical correlations in various neuropathologies.
