The article presents a review of modern approaches to the diagnosis and treatment of gastro-duodenal bleeding (GDB) in adult patients, with a focus on the evolution of clinical, instrumental, and surgical methods over the past decades. Key milestones in the development of endoscopic diagnostics are highlighted, including the introduction of fibrogastroduodenoscopy, Forrest visual classification, and technologies for early identification of the bleeding source. Contemporary hemostasis strategies are discussed in detail, such as injection, thermal, mechanical, and combined methods. The role of proton pump inhibitors in pharmacotherapy, as well as algorithms for risk stratification of recurrence and indications for surgical intervention, are emphasized.
