THE EDUCATIONAL IMPORTANCE OF READING WORKS OF WORLD LITERATURE (IN THE EXAMPLE OF THE STORY "HARVEST")

This article discusses the formation of human qualities in the minds of secondary school students through the teaching of fiction, the continuous work on positive qualities, and the upbringing of a future generation that will benefit society. In particular, the story "The Pledge" by the Russian writer Anton Pavlovich Chekhov, one of the great figures of world literature, who created a significant work in the prose narrative genre, was analyzed. During the discussion, the positive and negative sides of the pledge, 15 years of imprisonment, between an elderly banker with material financial freedom and a 25-year-old lawyer in the prime of his life, were discussed.
