THE FUNCTIONAL ROLE OF PREVENTIVE SPEECH ACTS IN SPEECH ETIQUETTE: A SOCIO-PRAGMATIC APPROACH

The article examines the functional significance of preventive speech acts (PSA) within the framework of speech etiquette from the standpoint of the sociopragmatic approach. The types of PSA, their communicative tasks, sociocultural determinacy, and their role in maintaining harmony in interpersonal and intercultural communication are analyzed. Particular attention is paid to the dependence of the use of PSA on social status, age and gender factors, and the context of communication. Based on the analysis of real speech situations, conclusions are made about the importance of teaching PSA as a key component of sociopragmatic competence.
