Abstract

This article argues that food, as depicted in Uzbek and English literary texts, functions not merely as a backdrop for storytelling but as a linguocultural symbol that conveys social norms, emotional expression, and cultural identity. By analyzing ceremonial and everyday food references in O‘tkan kunlar and Great Expectations, the study demonstrates how authors use culinary imagery to articulate themes of community, power, class, and human connection within their respective cultural contexts.
