EXPLANATIONS GIVEN TO MEDICAL TERMS IN ENGLISH AND UZBEK EXPLANATORY DICTIONARIES

Abstract

This scientific article compares the explanations given to medical terms in English and Uzbek explanatory dictionaries and analyzes the mutual differences and similarities of medical terminology.  The article includes sources such as popular medical dictionaries in English, such as Dorland's Illustrated Medical Dictionary, Taber's Cyclopedic Medical Dictionary, and The Merck Manual of Diagnosis and Therapy, as well as explanatory dictionaries in Uzbek and a special dictionary aimed at explaining medical terms.  names, including the Uzbek-Russian dictionary of medical terms and the Medical Encyclopedia.  The article shows the differences between the linguistic approach and explanatory methods of medical terms.  English dictionaries are built on the basis of more scientific and technical descriptions, while Uzbek dictionaries describe medical terms in a simple and understandable way.  Some medical terms in Uzbek dictionaries can be difficult to translate, especially if the terms are subject to language-specific variations.  Interpretation of medical terminology is of great importance, especially in the teaching, translation and effective use of medical terms in the international medical system.  The article analyzes the description of medical terms in each language and the main factors of their acceptance by specialists.  This research will help medical translators, linguists and medical professionals to ensure the correct understanding and use of medical terms.  promotes a better understanding of medical terms in the community.
