THE INTERPRETATION OF WATER IN UZBEK AND GERMAN FOLKLORE

This article is devoted to the interpretation of water in Uzbek and German folklore, in which the place of this natural gift in the culture of both nations is described through fairy tales, proverbs and songs. According to ethnographic literature, ancient people threw puppets representing dead gods into the water, sent them to the property of the deceased and waited for them to return from the dead. Therefore, the understanding of water as a boundary between two worlds is one of the most widespread ancient mythological beliefs.
