Abstract

This comprehensive review delves into the phenomenon of decreasing sex ratios, investigating the factors contributing to this disruption of equilibrium and exploring its far-reaching ramifications. The sex ratio, a fundamental demographic indicator, has shown declining trends in various regions globally. Through an in-depth analysis of research literature, this study uncovers the multifaceted causes behind the decreasing sex ratio, encompassing social, cultural, economic, and technological factors. Furthermore, it examines the profound implications of imbalanced sex ratios on society, including issues related to marriage markets, social dynamics, and gender imbalances. By synthesizing the insights from diverse sources, this review contributes to the understanding of a pressing demographic concern and offers a foundation for future research and policy interventions.
