Abstract

This study examines the transformative impact of downstream oil sector deregulation on the structure of the government budget in Nigeria. Downstream oil sector deregulation represents a significant policy shift that aims to enhance efficiency, reduce subsidies, and attract investment in the energy sector. Through comprehensive data collection and analysis, this research aims to unveil the specific effects of deregulation on revenue sources, expenditure allocations, and fiscal priorities within the Nigerian government budget. By gaining insights into these effects, the study contributes to a deeper understanding of how deregulation influences the fiscal landscape. The findings hold implications for policymakers, economists, and stakeholders seeking to navigate the complexities of energy sector reform and its broader fiscal consequences.
