THE ROLE OF ENGLISH LEARNERS’ CRITICAL THINKING IN ACADEMIC ESSAY WRITING

Critical thinking is a key skill for writing well in school, especially for those learning English as a second or foreign language. This study looksat how critical thinking helps these learnersimprove their essay writing. Researchers usedvarious methods like examining writing samples, conducting surveys, and interviewingstudents who are at intermediate to advanced levels of English. The study found a strong linkbetween having good critical thinking skills and writing essays that are clear, have strong arguments, and are original. The resultssuggest that teaching critical thinking can significantly improve academic writing. Thestudy also offers ideas on how teachers can use this information to help students improve their English writing skills.
