THE USE OF THE SILENT WAY IN TEACHING ENGLISH PRONUNCIATION

This article investigates the implementation of the Silent Way in English pronunciation teaching. The method encourages learners to think critically and take responsibility for their learning, while the teacher assumes a guiding role rather than leading the process directly. The paper presents the conceptual foundations of the approach, illustrates its use in classroom settings with tools such as Cuisenaire rods and the Fidel chart, and evaluates how it facilitates accurate pronunciation development. A comparative overview with other instructional methods is also included to highlight its pedagogical benefits.
