This article explores the depiction of hospitality and moral integrity in Shukur Xolmirzayev’s short story “The Uzbeks”, focusing on the cultural and ethical values embedded in Uzbek society. The story not only illustrates the warmth and generosity of rural Uzbek families but also highlights the consequences of violating deeply rooted social norms. Through a close reading of character actions and narrative events, this paper argues that the story serves as a powerful medium to reflect and critique both the strengths and the vulnerabilities of traditional Uzbek values in the face of ethical challenges. The analysis emphasizes how literature becomes a mirror to cultural identity, offering lessons on the balance between generosity and trust.
