This paper explores the portrayal of the female image and gender roles in English and Uzbek literature through the comparative analysis of selected works by Jane Austen and O‘tkir Hoshimov. By examining the cultural, social, and historical contexts in which both authors wrote, the study reveals how women are represented in their narratives and how gender expectations shape character development and plot progression. Austen's subtle critique of 19th-century English patriarchy is juxtaposed with Hoshimov's reflection on the position of women in Soviet and post-Soviet Uzbek society. The findings emphasize the role of literature in challenging or reinforcing traditional gender norms and the evolution of female identity across different literary landscapes.
