Abstract

Error correction is a fundamental aspect of language learning that contributes significantly to the development of accuracy and communicative competence. While errors are natural indicators of learning progress, the way they are addressed plays a crucial role in shaping learners’ motivation, confidence, and language awareness. This article explores the purpose, timing, methods, and psychological impact of error correction, offering a balanced perspective on how it can be effectively implemented in English language instruction. Drawing on second language acquisition theory and pedagogical research, the article argues that thoughtful, learner-centered error correction fosters growth, autonomy, and long-term linguistic competence.
