Maculopathy encompasses a wide range of retinal diseases that primarily affect the macula, leading to significant visual impairment and reduced quality of life. The condition involves alterations to the central part of the retina responsible for sharp, detailed vision. This article reviews the diagnostic criteria and differential approaches in the treatment of various forms of maculopathy, including age-related macular degeneration (AMD), diabetic maculopathy, and macular edema. The application of modern imaging techniques, such as optical coherence tomography (OCT) and fluorescein angiography, plays a critical role in the early diagnosis and management of these conditions. We explore pharmacologic, laser, and surgical treatment options, emphasizing personalized and multimodal approaches to therapy. The differential diagnostic approach to maculopathy is crucial for tailored treatment strategies, as early intervention can significantly reduce vision loss.
