Abstract

Inferencing is like reading between the lines—it’s the magic that helps learners uncover deeper meanings in a text, even when those meanings aren’t spelled out. This study dives into why inferencing is such a game-changer for reading comprehension and explores how teachers can help students develop this skill. By blending research and real-world classroom strategies, we found that teaching inferencing explicitly can make a huge difference, especially for students who find reading challenging. The study also highlights the importance of engaging students in active thinking and self-reflection while reading.
