Abstract

Since the theoretical basis of literary fiction dates back to the ancient Poetics, it is preferable to analyze it in terms of the evolved types mentioned in Aristotle's classification.  Although the epic, lyrical, and dramatic genres, the precious jewels of humanity, have been interpreted with updates in form and content over time, their theoretical criteria have not been so far removed from the original. The specific characteristics of the epic genre are manifested in its objectivity, realism, and universality compared to other literary genres.
