Abstract

This article examines the chemical properties and biological activity of gossypol — a natural polyphenolic compound — as well as the antiseptic characteristics of its derivatives. Gossypol is a polyphenolic substance found in the roots, stems, and seeds of cotton plants (Gossypium spp.). Its derivatives exhibit strong antibacterial, antiviral, and antifungal effects, making them promising raw materials for the development of modern antiseptic agents.
