This study examines the legal status of non-governmental higher education institutions (NGHEIs) and its impact on institutional governance, academic autonomy, and quality assurance. By analyzing legislative frameworks, accreditation procedures, and operational practices, the research highlights how legal recognition empowers NGHEIs to function independently while ensuring compliance with national standards. The study identifies both the opportunities and challenges associated with private higher education, emphasizing the role of law in facilitating institutional innovation, safeguarding stakeholders, and enhancing the credibility of private institutions. The findings provide insights for policymakers, educators, and administrators seeking to strengthen the legal foundations of non-governmental higher education and promote its sustainable development.References
