Abstract

The study explores the translational and lexicological aspects of English and Uzbek medical terminology, focusing on the similarities and differences in term formation, semantic equivalence, and linguistic adaptation. Medical terminology serves as a vital instrument for scientific communication, reflecting both the development of medicine and the linguistic evolution of nations. English medical terms, mostly derived from Greek and Latin roots, represent a highly standardized system that promotes international understanding. In contrast, Uzbek medical terminology has developed through multiple linguistic influences, including Arabic, Persian, Russian, and English, creating a diverse and dynamic lexicon.

The research highlights the major challenges faced in translating English medical terms into Uzbek, particularly in maintaining semantic precision, cultural relevance, and professional clarity. It also discusses the growing trend of borrowing and transliteration in the era of globalization, emphasizing the need for balance between international terminology and native word formation. The findings suggest that systematic terminological research, bilingual medical dictionaries, and translator training programs are essential for improving the accuracy and consistency of medical terminology.
