This article examines the cognitive-semantic features of spatial deixis in English and Uzbek. The study highlights the role of spatial markers in expressing the speaker’s position in space, their dependence on context, and their significance in the formation of mental maps. It analyzes the semantic shifts and metaphorical extensions of units such as here, there, this, that in English and bu yerda, u yerda, bu, u in Uzbek within a cognitive framework. Furthermore, the paper identifies similarities and differences in the conceptual structure and pragmatic use of spatial deixis in both languages. The findings are relevant for linguistics, translation studies, and intercultural communication.
