Abstract

This article explores the multifaceted nature of communicative competence and its theoretical and practical interpretations developed by researchers such as M.N. Vyatyutnev, M. Canale, M. Swain, L.F. Bachman, J. Sheils, I.L. Bim, V.V. Safonova, and others. The paper highlights the structural components of communicative competence including linguistic, sociolinguistic, discursive, strategic, socio-cultural, and pragmatic aspects. Furthermore, the study investigates communicative competence as a key component of linguistic personality and intercultural interaction within the context of modern foreign language instruction. Based on the synthesis of major models, the article proposes a comprehensive understanding of communicative competence relevant to tertiary-level language education.
